Aboriginal Place Names
In celebration of Friends of Geographic Names of Alberta Society's 20th anniversary (2007), we have committed to a series of "talking dictionaries" of Alberta place names. Commencing with the Blackfoot Nation (2008), then the Cree Nation (2009), Dene Nation (2010), and Metis Nation (2011).
These books will tell the aboriginal Place Name Stories in their language and will be illustrated by their artwork. Each talking "Dictionary" will be narrated by an Elder presenting their oral History.
