Place Names of Alberta, Volumes I-IV
The Place Names of Alberta series, published over a five year period from 1991 to 1996, is the most complete and current reference to Alberta's toponymy. Alberta now has a highly readable and informative guide to the origins of the more than 9,000 official place names in the province. It is an accomplishment of which the Friends are proud and one that enriches the heritage of this province. This four-volume set, co-published by the Friends, Alberta Culture and Community Spirit and the University of Calgary Press, deals with the namescape of four different areas of the province: the mountain region, southern, central and northern Alberta.
