Town
82 I
Approximately 64 km north-west of Lethbridge.
Named in 1891 by John Niblick, a Canadian Pacific Railway superintendent, for the name of his home in Medicine Hat. His wife's name was Clare, and they referred to their house as "Clare's home." The first buildings erected were the water tower for the trains, and a section house for supplies needed to build the railroad which came through what is now Claresholm in 1891. Claresholm was incorporated as a village 15 June 1903. The town of Claresholm was incorporated 31 August 1905.
