Chestermere

Town
82 P

Approximately 15 km east of Calgary.

Originally the Summer Village of Chestermere Lake, incorporated in 1977, the name was shortened in 1993 to reflect the change from a camping and resort area to a full-fledged, year-round community. The Canadian Pacific Railway built a railroad station here in 1914, but it was never used. In 1959, the land was bought from the Western Irrigation District to build a provincial campsite near the bridge that crossed the north end of the lake. See Chestermere Lake.
