Castor

Town
73 D

Approximately 140 km east of Red Deer.

The village was incorporated in 1909 and the town in 1910. The CPR station was also opened in 1910. Castor is the Latin and also French word for beaver. It was named for the nearby Beaverdam Creek. That same year the creek's name was changed to Castor Creek to coincide with that of the town.
