Canmore

Town
82 O

Approximately 17 km south-east of Banff.

The first divisional point for the Canadian Pacific Railway west of Calgary was completed in 1884 and, like many stations on the CPR line in the early days, the name may have been selected from a list or guide to place names in Scotland. King Malcolm of Canmore, Scotland defeated Macbeth and reigned as King of Scotland from 1057-1093. (See also Banff.)
