Calumet Peak
Peak
83 E
Approximately 76 km west north-west of Jasper.
Noted on the Interprovincial Boundary Commission Report of 1925, Calumet Peak was named for the nearby creek. Calumet is the Canadian French word for pipe, specifically the peace pipe used in ceremonies of aboriginal people. Along the banks of the Calumet (formerly Pipestone) Creek were deposits of stone used in the making of these pipes.
