Bonnyville

Town
73 L

Approximately 122 km north north-west of Lloydminster.

This town was incorporated as a town in February 1958 and was named after Father Bonnin who established the first Roman Catholic Church in the district in 1910 near Moose Lake. Father Bonnin had been a missionary in Africa prior to coming to Canada. The original post office that opened in 1908 was known as St. Louis de Moose Lake. The name was changed to Bonnyville in 1910.
