Bon Accord

Town
83 H

Approximately 30 km north of Edmonton.

In 1897 the area residents petitioned the Territorial Government, and the Bon Accord School District was established. When queried about the post office's name in 1905, Thomas A. Mulligan, the postmaster said: "[there was] a Scotchman living among us who had named his farm Bon Accord. We were starting a School District here and he gave the name Bon Accord to it, so when we got a post office it was called Bon Accord also." What is the connection to Scotland? "Bon Accord" is the motto of Aberdeen, Scotland.
