Barrhead

Town
83 J

Approximately 89 km north-west of Edmonton.

The post office was established here in January 1914 and was named after Barrhead, Scotland, the birthplace of James McGuire, an early settler. The name was suggested by the Directors of the Paddle River and District Co-operative Company. (Taken from Place-Names of Alberta, Ottawa, 1928.) Barrhead was incorporated as a town in November 1946.
